Design thinking plays a huge role in helping us better identify, understand, and address our business and customers problems across all aspects of our business. We value solutions over processes and creativity and innovation over traditions to bring fulfilment and value to our customers and our people and make our experiences better.
Process engineers help find solutions to problems. They specialise in directing and implementing capital projects; they engineer processes to meet budgets and project goals. Their primary responsibility is to oversee continuous improvement efforts for the company.
A Service Designer visualises and communicates problems in a way that helps relevant stakeholders to understand, engage and identify solutions more effectively, through sketching and prototyping. This allows people to get a feel for how something could work differently.
A UX Designer focuses on all aspects of a product's development, including design, usability and function. Their work touches the entire end-to-end journey of a user's interaction with a product, and includes identifying new opportunities for the product and business.
A UI designer creates interactive programmes that enhance a customer's experience with a brand and facilitate an enjoyable experience. They design user interfaces from the user's point of view. They may be given a specific design problem and be asked to solve it.
Copywriters research, plan and create written content (known as copy) for the purpose of relaying a message. A copywriter creates clear, compelling copy to sell products and/or educate and engage consumers, flexing persuasive writing muscle on websites and blog posts, product descriptions.

Young talent is something we are very passionate about. At the Design Office we hire people, not skills. Even if you’re not a designer but you’ve finished your studies and have interest in solving wicked problems, we’d love for you to grow your skills with us. The year will focus on allowing you to explore different areas of design and business to see what interests you most and where your strengths lie. This is a paid programme that runs over 12 months and will provide you with training, mentorship and tons of fun throughout the year.
We don’t only want to hire the top creatives in the country but we also want to be a key player in growing the skills of young South Africans. Our graduate programme provides you with the knowledge and experience you will need to succeed. We also aim to create an interest in Human Centred Design (HCD) and become the employer of choice for design graduates.
You’ll come in so we can get to know you a bit better and we’ll give you a challenge to complete on the day in order to see where your strengths lie. We’ll get back to you again to let you know if you’ve been accepted into the programme or not. Once you are onboarded we’ll introduce you around to the office and get you settled into the ADO culture and we’ll teach you all there is to know.
