Sitoyo Lopokoiyit was appointed Chief Executive: Personal and Private Banking, effective 1 April 2026.

Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive of M-PESA Africa. As part of this role, he sat on the Executive Committees of both Vodacom and Safaricom. Sitoyo has over 15 years of senior managerial experience across various fields, including oil & gas (Chevron and Total Kenya Ltd), and the telecoms (fintech) industry within Kenya across sub-Saharan Africa. He has worked extensively in the East Africa region as well as in Mauritius and Reunion.

Sitoyo is a mobile financial services expert who has directly managed mobile money in two of the largest markets in the world (Kenya and Tanzania). In his role as Chief Executive Officer at M-PESA Africa, he was responsible for managing and growing M-PESA across seven markets in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho, Ghana, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo) with over 56 million active customers and over five million SMEs and MSMEs. The platform has an annual turnover of over $360 billion and annual revenues of over $1,5 billion.

Sitoyo holds an MSc in Management Information Systems (2002) from Lancaster University in the UK, and a BCom from the University of Nairobi (2000).
