Totalsports Women's Race
This year, Absa is also giving colleagues across the country the opportunity to participate in the Totalsports Women’s Races in Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, where empowerment and athleticism come together in a “Sea of Pink” to celebrate Women’s Month.

Run Your City
A key highlight on Absa’s Women’s Month calendar is the Absa Run Your City event taking place in Tshwane on Sunday, 24 August.
“We are reaffirming our commitment this Women’s Month to honouring and empowering women across South Africa. Under the campaign banner ‘We See Her’ Absa is creating spaces for women’s stories to be seen, heard and celebrated," says Thurston.
Absa L'Atelier
Absa has a long-standing legacy of championing women in the arts. Absa L’Atelier, now in its 39th year, is a programme that offers emerging artists mentorship, funding, and platforms to showcase their work across the continent and globally. This Women’s Month, Absa is proud to feature two solo exhibitions by female artists as part of its Pan-African Exhibition Series: Adelheid Frackiewicz at AVA Gallery in Cape Town (7 August – 25 September), whose work explores women’s evolving roles in society and personal transformation through visual art; and Bulumko Mbete, winner of the 2023 Absa L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award, at William Humphreys Art Gallery in Kimberley (14 August – 13 September), whose exhibition Like the sky, I’ve been too quiet reflects on memory, migration, and belonging through sculpture, textiles, and sound.
She Thrives
Through programmes like She Thrives, women entrepreneurs receive the funding, mentorship, and ecosystem support needed to scale. In partnership with Visa, the She’s Next competition, running from July through September, offers female founders the opportunity to secure funding and exposure. This journey will culminate in the SheNext event on 24 September, where finalists and mentors come together to celebrate breakthrough businesses. Financial inclusion remains a cornerstone of Absa’s approach, with dedicated masterclasses in financial literacy being hosted this Women’s Month to ensure more women are equipped to own their financial journeys.
