Help us deliver two million meals to vulnerable communities

The COVID-19 pandemic is primarily a health crisis, but it also has far-reaching economic implications, disrupting millions of lives and livelihoods. It is therefore incumbent on all sectors of society to work collaboratively to facilitate an effective, comprehensive, coordinated response to manage the negative socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.High poverty levels in our society exacerbate the impact on the most vulnerable in our communities. Food security, as well as addressing challenges of hygiene and sanitation, are critical interventions.

Absa has already made food donations equating to more than 597 000 meals and has been disbursing hygiene and sanitation products to communities in need across South Africa, working with reputable disaster relief and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on the ground, such as Gift of the Givers, Afrika Tikkun, World Vision, Do More Foundation, Rise Against Hunger and others. A commitment has also been made to produce and distribute 30 000 cloth masks to vulnerable communities in collaboration with Yes4Youth.

Continued support here will help to ensure that we increase the reach to two million meals and scale the disbursements of hygiene and sanitation products.
