Absa at WEF
An African voice in Davos
Our presence in Davos marks the first year that we attend the Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland as a standalone, proudly African bank.
Absa is attending the 2019 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, taking place from 22-25 January in Davos, Switzerland.
Our delegation will be led by Wendy Lucas-Bull (Chairman), Maria Ramos (Group CEO) and Peter Matlare (Deputy Group CEO) who will attend the official gathering, meet clients and stakeholders and host three events at the Absa venue at Promenade 72 in Davos.
The theme for the 2019 Annual Meeting is ‘Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’. If Africa is to seize the opportunities the Fourth Industrial Revolution presents, we need to mobilize large scale, sustained public and private investment for education and training, development and industrial expansion.
In Davos, we will be voicing our commitment to playing a role in growing, stabilizing and advancing financial systems in Africa. As a proudly African bank with a rich heritage across the continent dating back more than 100 years, we believe that we have a critical role to play in making Africa the next global frontier in investment.
