We have been on an exciting journey of transformation and on 10 February we reached a historic milestone when we launched the Absa brand in seven of our Absa Regional Operations (ARO) and became One Absa in Africa. The final seven countries joined Absa Bank Uganda and Absa Bank Mozambique who rebranded in November last year along with NBC and Nigeria to form part of the Absa Group.
The Absa brand came to life across TV, radio, digital and social channels in Botswana. The day started with an appearance by Managing Director on award winning shows, Good Morning Botswana and the Morning Show followed by the official ringing of the bell at the Botswana Stock Exchange making it official for us to operate as Absa Bank Botswana.
Our new Group CE, Daniel Mminele joined the high profile event where we were presented with the change of name certificate by the Bank of Ghana officials making us now officially Absa Bank Ghana.
Although the main celebrations were postponed in Kenya (in line with the week of national mourning for past president Daniel arap Moi), colleagues welcomed the Absa brand by welcoming customers with a special Absa cake and a colleague townhall. The country leadership visited branches and engaged with colleagues and customers.
Ki Manier Mauritius!
A welcome activation at the head office was the start of the events with the official handing over of the Absa Bank Mauritius license by the Central Bank of Mauritius. Various events showed the energy and enthusiasm from customers and colleague throughout the day.
The Absa colour palette adorned the streets of Seychelles with thousands of parasols and colleagues proudly showed off their new uniforms in the branches. These parasols illuminated later in the evening.
Festivities started early in the morning in Tanzania. Ferry tickets were handed out to commuters, a flash mob dance was staged and a street parade made its way to the new Absa office where a ribbon cutting confirmed that we are now Absa Bank Tanzania.
Muli shani Zambia!
In Zambia we received the official registration from the Central Bank making us officially Absa Bank in Zambia and went live on national TV and radio stations where we announced the great news.
