Our relationship with G30

Absa Group is a strategic partner of The Group of Thirty, often abbreviated as G30, an independent global body comprising economic and financial leaders from the public and private sectors, and academia.

The G30 aims to deepen the understanding of global economic and financial issues, and to explore the international repercussions of decisions taken in the public and private sectors. The Group is characterised by the extensive experience of its members, as well as its open-minded, forward thinking.

We have collaborated with the G30 to host a virtual dialogue themed “Road to COP26: Opportunities, Challenges, and the African Transition to Net-Zero.”

Delivering the benefits of a new climate economy requires ambitious action, and we are committed to joining forces with consultative groups such as the G30, civil society, companies and individuals on the frontline of climate change to inspire climate action.

Speakers at the event discussed the need for a just transition as climate change goals and policies are designed, implemented and monitored for their effectiveness. They also examined how governments can finance and deliver a sustainable planet for future generations.

For more from the G30 on climate change, we invite you to download a G30 research report co-chaired by Mark Carney, one of our speakers at the virtual dialogue, titled Mainstreaming the Transition to a Net-Zero Economy, here.
